No Company is complete without its employees. Every manager must be aware of what the team is doing. Motivating the team members at the right time, at the right place, and in the right way can do absolute wonders. Project management and team management go hand in hand. No project can be successfully completed unless the team that works for it, communicates and coordinates well.
One of the most important thing in project management is the progress of a certain project. If being a project manager you have not monitored the progress of the project you are responsible for, you won’t be able to complete a project on time. For effectively and efficiently completing a project, you not only need to plan and implement it but need to be with your team, motivating them and monitoring them throughout. If you have not done it yet, you must start doing it now. And to help you more with the same, here are some effective ways about how to monitor your employee’s work.
• Set milestones: The best way to monitor your employees’ or your team members’ work is to set milestones for them. By this not only will you know whether they have achieved the milestones, but moreover, the employees too will feel motivated to work towards the milestones. Milestones can be both, short-term and long-term.
• Create an efficient environment: Employees will only be able to put in their 100% if they are given a perfect environment to do so. It is very important for any project manager to make sure that there is no hindrance or obligation in employees’ work that might distract them or be a barrier towards achieving their goals.
• Plan timely meetings: Another way to monitor what the team members are doing is to ask them for timely meetings. Meetings can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In the meetings, you can ask everyone to give you a status update of the work they are respectively responsible for. Instead of walking to everyone’s desk every now and then to know who’s doing what, it is always recommended to arrange meetings.
• Use project management tool: Or the best way to track the project progress is to use an online project management tool that comes with features like the password manager, client management, team management, task management, time tracking, calendar, effective dashboards, reminders etc. These features would help you not only track the progress, but also do the rest of the managerial tasks with an ease.
